Description
Interlocking & Non-Interlocking Compressed Earth Block Machinery
PMSA® offers a full range of Interlocking and Non-Interlocking Compressed Earth Block Making Machines. These machines are mostly suited to rural applications where manufacturers would like to use local soil (laterite) and cement to manufacture Interlocking and Non-interlocking Stabilised Compressed Earth Blocks (CEB).
Earth Blocks are made from a mixture of soil (laterite), sand (if needed) and 5-10% cement. The materials are then mixed together with water, either by hand or with a PMSA Earth Pan Mixer. The materials are then compacted by hydraulic force to increase the material density so that the fresh block is hard enough to be carried to the curing area for 7-14 days of curing. The end result is a Compressed Earth Block (CEB) which can either be Interlocking or Non-interlocking.
PMSA have decades of experience developing Compressed Earth Block (CEB) Machinery. The technical support staff have more than 30 years of international experience in machine design, block making and training.
PMSA offer three main types of Earth Block Machines.
PM7 - PMSA Interlocking Dry-Stack Earth Press
The PM7 (7-ton-force) range of machines are Hydraulic Forming Machines that deliver up to 7 tons of compaction force which can easily be adjusted between 2.5 tons and 7 tons of compaction force (although 4 tons is the ideal compaction range for most soils on the PM7 Range).
The PM7 Range of machines are available as either mobile (PM7-M1) or static (PM7-M3).
The PM7-M1 is a single chamber machine with an integrated Earth Pan Mixer, all mounted on a road trailer for easy movement from site to site. This machine is ideal for making blocks right on the construction site.
The PM7-M3 Earth Block Press has two separate chambers and a stand-alone Earth Pan Mixer which are all static. This machine set-up is ideal for a permanent block yard.
Both the PM7-M1 and PM7-M3 have different moulds and options available. The most popular block produced on the PM7 range of machines is the 215mm wide Dry-Pack-Block™ which is easy to lay as 70% of the building super-structure requires no mortar between the blocks.
PM10 - PMSA I-Brick ™ Interlocking Hollow Earth Block
- The PM10 is a Hydraulic Forming Press Machine that can deliver up to 10 tons of compaction force. The force can easily be adjusted between 5 tons and 10 tons of compaction force.
The PM10 is a stand-alone static machine. The PM10-M1 it is mobile with an integrated Earth Pan Mixer.
The PM10 range are unique machines that produces interlocking blocks with hollow vertical holes for steel re-bar and other mechanical services. The blocks can be laid on a thin slurry and are mostly dry-stacked.
PM15 - PMSA Standard Earth Press
The PM15 can be used to manufacture both stabilised EarthTiles ™ as well as conventional mortar type Earth Blocks.
The PM15 (15-ton-force) is a Hydraulic Forming Press Machine that can deliver up to 15 tons of compaction force. The force can easily be adjusted between 5 tons and 15 tons of compaction force.
The Mortar Type Earth Blocks are Non-Interlocking and require conventional building techniques to lay the blocks with mortar. The Earthtile™ have been successfully used on specialised dome structures including the award-winning Rwanda Cricket Clubhouse.
The PM15 is ideal for a block yard or for making blocks on the construction site.

PMSA provides technology training workshops for customers to assist customers to improve productivity, quality and profitability.
Built to Last
Buy once, buy right! Having a machine that lasts for decades means you don’t have to replace your machine every few years; it has been Built to Last. Our customer’s success stories prove the PMSA Built to Last philosophy.
Features and benefits
PMSA’s Earth Block Machinery is Built to Last® and the ideal medium-size machinery for a rural block yard anywhere worldwide. Features of the Earth Block Machinery include:
High quality blocks made from local soil and cement
Well cured compressed soil-cement blocks allow for high compressive strength range. Depending on the building requirements blocks can be manufactured from 4MPa for plastered walls, to 7MPa for face finished wall and even up to 14MPa for multi-level construction. The strength of the Compressed Earth Blocks (CEB) depends on soil type, cement content and curing method.
Low on carbon
Building a simple house with Earth Blocks can reduce CO2 emissions and mitigate the rate of deforestation where trees are used to burn bricks in rural areas.
Cost-effective
Earth Blocks can reduce the cost of wall construction compared to other building systems as well as uses less mortar and plastering.
User-friendly
Earth Blocks and Earth Tiles can be made on site using local materials (soil or laterite), sand (if required) and cement. With the correct training, mix design and production methods, the blocks and tiles are easily adapted to the local construction methods.
PMSA offers:
Block Production Training
PMSA offer training and support for the production of Earth Blocks and Earth Tiles including on-site safety training and block production.
Training on soil analysis and mix design
We offer laboratory services to determine the optimum formula for the production of Earth Blocks and Earth Tiles based on the type of soil on your site. In addition, we train customers on how to assess the local soil to ensure high quality Earth Blocks and Earth Tiles are produced with the best production practices.
Complete building solution
In order to further increase the quality and affordability of construction, we aim to provide solutions for all components of building construction. Depending on your needs, we offer various solutions for roofing, walls, finishes and plastering.
Research and Development
R&D is the cornerstone of innovation at PMSA and for decades we have been developing innovative construction solutions generating value for our clients.
